What comes to your mind when you hear the word AYURVEDA??
An Ancient Indian traditional medicine that employs the use of herbs in forms such as decoction, fermented liquids and pastes that taste so bitter and sour?
Well, that’s a yes but I would like to say that there is actually more to AYURVEDA than what meets the eye. It is a field much less explored and it’s deep waters untested.
The word ‘Ayurveda’ traces its origin from Sanskrit words “Ayur” and “Veda” meaning life and science respectively. It means “Science of life”. Ayurveda believes in holistic approach of treatment. It specialises in bringing the body back to normalcy by correcting the imbalances.
Ayurveda system of medicine firmly believes that every individual is made up three doshas namely Vata,Pitta and Kapha.
These doshas signifies the five elements of the nature (Pancha maha bhootas)- Air,Fire,Water,Earth and Ether. In order to stay healthy, it is very important to maintain the doshas in balance by eating right, exercising regularly and being relaxed.
There is definately a great deal to learn about this issue.
